INFORMATION ABOUT INFLUENZA A(H1N1)
The SAP and ASUG planning teams are monitoring the Influenza A(H1N1) situation closely. At this time, the event is scheduled to occur as planned. We are keeping abreast of all health alerts for this current global situation, and we are aware that the World Health Organization (WHO) has raised its pandemic alert to 5. Should the status of the program change we will alert all attendees immediately.
Precautions At the Event:
SAP understands your concerns about the Influenza A(H1N1) issue. We have taken the following measures for our event:
- Each conference participant will receive a bottle of anti-bacterial lotion as part of their conference materials
- In addition to the anti-bacterial lotion in the attendee bags, anti-bacterial stations will be placed throughout the event as well as supplied to all staff on the show floor.
- The Orange County Convention Center(OCCC) has posted hand washing guidelines as well as health advisories of covering your mouth and nose if you cough or sneeze throughout the building.
- Our catering team has implemented new measures around food containers and food handling – wrapped food items, bottled water, etc. Although this measure will produce more waste from our program, we felt it was necessary at this time to implement a program that provided covered food products.
- SAPPHIRE 2009 Orlando and the 2009 ASUG Annual Conference continues to provide first-aid services as part of their standard conference planning. However, as an extended measure, we will have licensed medical professionals available for attendees should they feel ill or require medical attention. Information for access to this service will be made available on-site in daily attendee updates. We have also mapped out local medical facilities should further medical attention be required.
- The SAP events teams will continue to work with Orlando city officials on measures being put in place at the airport and within the city.
